'Japanese companies keen for collaboration in DMIC project'

Japanese companies are looking for active collaboration in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, Japan's former Finance Minister Koji Omi said.

NEW DELHI:Japanese companies are looking for active collaboration in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project, Japan's former Finance Minister Koji Omi said.

Koji is in India to invite Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit Japan in October as chief guest at the Annual Conference of STS Forum to be held in Kyoto, an official release said on Friday.

The visit of Koji is significant in view of global initiatives to meet the challenge of environmental degradation and climate change, it added.

"At this moment a complete convergence of interests between India nad Japan and that a comprehensive partnership between the two countries would contribute to Asian prosperity and global stability," Minister of State for Industry Ashwini Kumar said in the statement.

Kumar welcomed the participation Japanese companies in the $90 billion DMIC project.
