Google AI Hub ecosystem in Vizag expands with ₹1,008-crore logistics park, 5,000 new jobs
A new logistics and light industrial park will support Google's AI Hub in Visakhapatnam. This Ecobox development represents a significant Rs 1,008 crore investment in Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to create approximately five thousand di...
The park will support Google's upcoming India AI Hub in Visakhapatnam. The project, expected to generate around 5,000 direct jobs, is the latest investment in the rapidly expanding ecosystem being built around Google's landmark AI infrastructure project in the state. Ecobox, a Logicap subsidiary backed by Hillhouse Investment-managed funds, will develop nearly 1.95 million sq ft of warehousing, logistics and light industrial infrastructure. The Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 91.38 acres at Kanamam, near Visakhapatnam, to Ecobox.
Google's India AI Hub, announced earlier this year, is envisioned as one of the country's most significant AI infrastructure investments. Beyond the hyperscale data centre itself, the project is expected to catalyse an entire ecosystem of cloud infrastructure, AI computing, networking, logistics, equipment suppliers, construction, maintenance services and technology companies. The state government has positioned Vizag as a strategic AI and digital infrastructure hub, leveraging its international submarine cable connectivity, reliable power availability and abundant land for large-scale expansion. The latest approval reflects this ecosystem-driven approach.
Google has officially identified Ecobox as its preferred development partner for logistics and warehousing supporting the Google India AI Hub. According to an Andhra Pradesh government order issued on Saturday, Google intends to utilise the facilities in phases to support the AI Hub's operations, while also evaluating a portion of the site for networking and connectivity infrastructure critical to the broader data centre campus. Google has also secured the first right of refusal to purchase the completed facilities as they become operational.
The industrial park will include three warehouse blocks, a light manufacturing facility, a dedicated data centre and allied activities zone, administrative facilities, and supporting infrastructure. Ecobox will be free to lease the facilities to other technology and industrial tenants if Google chooses not to utilise the entire capacity, allowing the campus to evolve into a broader digital infrastructure ecosystem serving multiple companies.
The project underscores Andhra Pradesh's strategy of developing complete investment ecosystems rather than standalone projects. As anchor investments such as Google's AI Hub take shape, the state is simultaneously attracting logistics providers, suppliers, infrastructure developers and ancillary industries required to support them, creating a multiplier effect in employment, technology capability and future investment across the Visakhapatnam region.
