NEW DELHI: DS Constructions has been awarded the Rs 1,058 crore, 260-mw Kutehr Hydel Project in Himachal Pradesh. The project will be developed on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
DS Constructions, which is involved in infrastructure projects like highways, railways and SEZ sector, recently ventured into the hydro-electric power sector.
“We are actively looking at the energy sector to propel our second phase of growth in India and are keen on participating in the mega power projects currently announced,” DS Constructions MD, MS Narula said. The company entered the hydro electric power sector with the 1,000 MW hydel project in Arunachal Pradesh. This is the second power project for DS Constructions.
The company has quoted an upfront payment of Rs 52 lakh per MW to win the bid. The minimum upfront fee payable for the project was Rs 10 lakh per MW. DS Constructions outbid its closest competitor by Rs 11 lakh, a company official said. The construction period is of seven years and the concession agreement as per the contract is for 40 years.
The expected power tariff is Rs 2.46 per unit. The project has been envisaged with the purpose of exploiting the potential in the upper reaches of the Ravi river. The state government has the reserved right to opt for equity participation in the project up to 40%.
A 400 kilovolt (KV) double circuit transmission line of 23 km length from the Kutehr power house to Hibra power house has been proposed for evacuation of power.
