20 years on, 3,000 Agra homebuyers seek UP govt intervention over stalled Ansal township

New Delhi: Over 3,000 homebuyers of Sushant Taj City in Agra by Ansal properties and Infrastructure Ltd are seeking clarity from the Uttar Pradesh Government over the possession of plots booked by them almost two decades ago.

The buyers have urged the UP chief minister to intervene since the project was a joint venture between the Agra development authority and Ansal.

“While majority of the project by the group are part of insolvency proceedings, this project was kept out of it, probably because government has a stake in it. We have reached out to the authority and state government but to no avail. In between, another builder had taken over the project and currently also, a new management has come but no one is ready to listen to the plight of homebuyers,” said KG Agarwal, president of of Ansal homebuyers association, who had booked the plot in this 400-acre township about 12 years ago.


The homebuyers association has also written to the Enforcement Directorate, seeking clarity on the investigation and attachment of the project.

“We have paid the entire amount but not getting the possession. If the local authority can ensure security and build common amenities, some of the buyers will shift. We are also not part of CIRP process and creditors should question why this project is not part of the insolvency process. That would have provided us the legal status,” said Mona Chandra, another homebuyer.
