Kolkata: Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) on Thursday said it signed an agreement for a 125-room Gateway hotel in Siliguri, a greenfield project that will bring its West Bengal portfolio to 19 hotels, including 11 under development.

The project is being developed in partnership with Pritam Agarwal and Amit Bhansali, promoters of a Siliguri-based business group with diversified interests across real estate, retail and transportation.

The company said in a statement that the signing aligns with its strategy of expanding in emerging growth centres across the country.


"Siliguri serves as the gateway to North Bengal, the Northeast and Bhutan. Its strategic location and growing economic activity continue to drive demand across business and leisure segments," Suma Venkatesh, EVP- Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said.

She said the signing of Gateway Siliguri strengthens the company's presence in a high-potential market.

Gateway brand hotels are owned and operated by IHCL, the parent company of Taj Hotels, owned by the Tatas.
