Subway, the US-based sandwich and salads restaurant chain, today said it plans to add 150 restaurants in India by the end of next year.

MUMBAI: Subway, the US-based sandwich and salads restaurant chain, today said it plans to add 150 restaurants in India by the end of next year.

Keeping in mind the vegetarian demand here, it plans to open two more vegetarian outlets in Gurgaon and Amritsar.

"The growing popularity of Subway's all-vegetarian outlets has encouraged us to explore more growth opportunities in this segment. With three outlets already operational, we plan to open two more vegetarian outlets in Gurgaon and Amritsar.

"Continuing the growth momentum here, we are looking at opening 450 restaurants by the end of next year and another 100 by 2015," the company said in a statement issued here.

The company plans to operate 1,000 stores in the country in the next five years.

At present, it operates 300 outlets in 50 cities and is targeting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities for future growth.
