Starwood debuts 'Keyless' entry into hotel rooms

Starwood has rolled out SPG Keyless plans on 30,000 doors in 150 hotels around the globe by early 2015 across Aloft, Element and W hotels.

MUMBAI: Guests arriving at the Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park will now be able to bypass the traditional check-in desk and enter their rooms using their smartphone as the room key. Global hotel chain Starwood Hotels & Resorts has introduced “keyless” entry, allowing guests to to check in and out of their rooms using their mobile phones. SPG Keyless – powered by the Starwood Preferred Guest app – allows guests to unlock their room with a simple tap of their smartphone.

“SPG Keyless transforms the first interaction with our guests from one that is transactional to something more personal,” Stephen Ho, President Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts said in a statement.

Starwood has rolled out SPG Keyless plans on 30,000 doors in 150 hotels around the globe by early 2015 across Aloft, Element and W hotels. SPG Keyless is available to SPG members who book a hotel room through one of Starwood’s booking channels.

Much like Starwood, other top hotel brands are also looking for ways to shorten queues at the front desk by offering quick check-in, check-out and concierge facility through the smartphones of their guests. Ends.
