Star hotels, resorts planned in western MP's tourist spots
To boost tourism in western Madhya Pradesh, the State Government has announced plans to develop star hotels and resorts in the region.
The hotels (one to five stars) and resorts will come up at historical places of Mandu, Burahanpur and Chanderi under private-public partnership, an official release said here today.
The Government has issued a notification to this effect. Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Department (MPSTD) will identify places in these cities for construction of hotels/ resorts. It will ensure luxurious and comfortable residential facilities are provided to tourists, it said.
The Government will provide a subsidy of 25 per cent on investment up to Rs 3 crore for building a hotel/resort. On investment up to Rs 5 crore, it will give a grant equivalent to 20 per cent of the cost, or Rs 1 crore, which ever amount is lower.
Similarly, on investment above Rs 5 crore, the Government will grant equivalent to 15 per cent of the cost, or Rs 1.5 crore, which ever is lower, the release said.
Grants would be given to only star category hotels and resorts, which construction and facilities should meet MPSTD- prescribed guidelines.
According to MPSTD norms, a hotel should have at least 20 rooms with modern facilities. On the other hand, a resort shall have at least ten rooms and facilities for health club, water sports, nature cure, children parks, convention centre and conference hall.
