Seven new Ginger brand hotels to be set up over next 18 months
Ratan Tata-run Indian Hotels Company's (IHCL) subsidiary, Roots Corporation, is opening seven new Ginger-brand hotels over the next one-and-a-half years, a top company official said.
"We currently have 14 operational hotels across the country and are opening seven new Ginger hotels in various cities in the next of one-and-a-half years," Roots Cooperation's Chief Executive Officer, Prabhat Pani, told media.
The seven new Ginger hotels would be opened in Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Mangalore, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Pune and Durgapur, he said.
"The Ludhiana and Ahmedabad hotels will be opened in the next two months followed by Guwahati, Mangalore and Durgapur by March 2009. The hotels at Pune and Jamshedpur will be operational by early FY 10," he said.
Different hotels would have different number of rooms, he said, adding, "the cost of construction per room is around Rs 15 lakh, excluding the land cost."
When asked whether there was a plan to list Roots Corporation, Pani said, "We are a new company and the subsidiary of a listed one. We will list Roots as and when there will be a requirement. We do not have any plans to list it in the near future."
