OYO’s SUNDAY opens first Japanese-themed hotel in India

The company said the hotel, spread over 50,000 square feet is located in M3M SkyLoft on New Golf Course Road Extension in Gurugram.
"Designed to deliver an authentic Japanese experience, the hotel features a traditional Ofuro for relaxation, along with an exclusive 20-seater Japanese restaurant serving a curated menu of delicacies including sushi, udon, tofu, ramen, donburi, onigiri, and Japanese Hammam," the company said in a statement.
Oyo said this is the largest SUNDAY Hotel in India with 217-keys which has been launched as part of an MoU with Oravel Stays and M3M to develop hospitality spaces across Gurgaon and NOIDA.
For Japanese guests interested in long term extended stay, a dedicated 54-room wing has also been created. The hotel also has Japanese-speaking staff.
SUNDAY hotels, a brand of four-star and five-star hotels, was originally launched in May 2023 through a joint venture between Softbank Group and Oravel Stays.
Commenting on the development, Aditya Sharma, Country Head, SUNDAY Hotels said several Japanese companies have already chosen this SUNDAY Hotel as their preferred accommodation partner for visiting employees from Japan. "This new themed hospitality center is designed to cater specifically to their cultural preferences. We are collaborating with Japanese designers, incorporating traditional elements like tatami mats, minimalist interiors, and offering Japanese cuisine and hospitality practices, all within a modern Indian urban setting," he added.
Oyo said SUNDAY Hotel is also betting big on the growing trend of Japansese restaurants in metro cities such as Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.
