NEW DELHI: Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd (JFL), India's largest foods services player, on Monday said it will not renew its franchise agreement to operate US coffee-and-donut chain Dunkin' in India, ending a 15-year franchise deal amid recurring losses and weak growth.

The existing agreement ends on December 31, 2026, JFL said in a stock exchange filing. The company will evaluate options for the stores including sale and transfer of franchise rights in consultation with Dunkin', it added.

The JFL board approved the non-renewal of the multiple unit development franchise agreement signed in 2011 on Monday. It said the decision "will not have any material operational or financial impact on the company."

Dunkin' has remained a marginal operation for JFL, which also operates the larger Domino's Pizza and fried chicken brand Popeyes in India. There are only 27 Dunkin' stores in India, contributing just 0.61% to JFL's revenue in FY25 when the business posted a loss of nearly Rs 19.1 crore.

JFL's total store count stands at 3,594 across six markets, including India, Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan and Georgia, dominated by Domino's Pizza that contributes over 95% to its annual revenues.

JFL had introduced the first Dunkin' store in India in April 2012, a year after it signed the franchisee deal. After opening over 70 Dunkin' stores within four years, JFL subsequently downsized many of the larger stores, while some were turned into kiosks or takeaways, amid weak sales and declining profits.

Analysts say donuts and coffee did not work as a standalone concept in India, leading to losses piling up for JFL.

The company had announced the closure of seven Dunkin' stores over the past one year in its December 2025 quarter presentation.
