InterContinental Hotels Group is set to take over two Hilton properties in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar as part of a rebranding exercise.

NEW DELHI: British hotelier InterContinental Hotels Group is set to take over two Hilton properties in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar as part of a rebranding exercise that will increase its portfolio to 17 hotels across 10 cities in India.

“The de-flagging and rebranding processes have begun and will be complete by December 18. The Hilton Mayur Vihar will become a Crowne Plaza hotel while the other, the Double Tree, a Holiday Inn,” Douglas Martell, IHG’s vice-president operations for South West Asia told ET on Friday. The rebranding will cost the group nearly Rs 1.9 crore.

The Hilton has a total of 160 rooms while the Double Tree hotel has 193 rooms. IHG aims to add another 150 hotels to its India portfolio over the next 15 years, Martell said, adding, “Of these, 85% of hotel business will be Holiday Inns across Tier I and II cities since there is a significant demand in India for mid-market hotels. With this, we are looking at providing 10,000 jobs in the coming years.”
