Indian Hotels to promote Ginger throughout India

The first Ginger Hotel in West Bengal would be inaugurated at Durgapur on Wednesday.

Kolkata: Indian Hotels Company Limited, which runs the Taj Group of hotels in India and abroad, will promote the 'Ginger' brand across the country by setting up properties targetting the mass market.
Prabhat Pani, Chief Executive Officer of Roots Corporation Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Hotels, said here today that Ginger Hotels would be set up in 25 destinations across the country, with each property costing between Rs 10 crore to Rs 12 crore.
He told reporters here that some of the locations where Ginger was present were Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Hardwar, Mysore, Tiruvananthapuram and Mysore.
The first Ginger Hotel in West Bengal would be inaugurated at Durgapur tomorrow, he said.
The company was also exploring new locations like Kolkata, Siliguri, Haldia and Kharagpur.
Pani said that Ginger hotels planned to tap the niche markets and target customers, who were looking for a branded product at a viable price.
The brand would attract the middle class traveller in the business and leisure segment.
Tariff for a single room was Rs 999 and Rs 1199 for a double room.
Work on Ginger hotels has already begun in Goa, Pondicherry and Agartala, he said.
