Hotelier Lalit Suri dies in London

He was also a Member of Parliament from the Rajya Sabha and was elected for the second term in May, 2004.


NEW DELHI: Hotelier Lalit Suri died in London on Tuesday morning.

Suri, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Hotels Limited & Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha - was highly regarded amongst the Indian & international community for his dynamism, foresight and forward thinking.

He was "the single-largest hotel owner with complete majority" in his properties that include the flagship InterContinental The Grand in Delhi, and six Grand hotels in Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Srinagar, Udaipur and Khajuraho.

Suri, took over the leadership control of Bharat Hotels as its Chairman & Managing Director in 1987. He was also a Member of Parliament from the Rajya Sabha and was elected for the second term to the Upper House of the Indian Parliament in May, 2004.
