Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok will cease operations from September 1: ATDCL

GUWAHATI: Assam Tourism Development Corporation Limited (ATDCL) has announced that Hotel Brahmaputra, formerly known as hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, will close operations permanently with effect from September 1 this year.

In a notification, it said that all pre closure business deals pertaining to Hotel Brahmaputra will be handled by ATDCL.

India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) had made an exit from Hotel Lake View Ashok, Bhopal; Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati, and Hotel Bharatpur Ashok, Bharatpur.

The decision was taken at the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs ( CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May this year. The decision on disinvestment has been made keeping in view that running and managing hotels on professional lines is not the work of the government or its entities.

Sources in ATDCL, which is the arm of the Assam government said, “The property will be converted into a guest house.”
