Govt to provide adequate hotel rooms for Commonwealth Games

Ruling out any shortage of hotel rooms for the Commonwealth Games, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy on Wednesday said efforts are on to make available adequate rooms during the 2010 event.

NEW DELHI: Ruling out any shortage of hotel rooms for the Commonwealth Games, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy on Wednesday said efforts are on to make available adequate rooms during the 2010 event.

Steps are taken for construction of as many hotels in and around Delhi while the DDA has sold 30 sites for budget hotels through auction, Reddy said.

"Then the bed and breakfast scheme has been launched by the Delhi government keeping the Games in mind," he said.

Speaking about the other projects, Reddy said the government is committed to complete all projects on time.

On asked whether there will be any impact of the escalating steel and cement prices on the ongoing projects, he said, "escalation will not derail the projects and they would be completed in time".
