Garcha Hotels to open one property in India, 4 in the world by 2017

Owned and operated by one of Singapore's 50 richest Satinder Garcha, the boutique properties will offer old-world hospitality.

NEW DELHI: Boutique hotel company Garcha will open five hotels in Singapore, Chile and India by 2017. The properties - three of which will open in a phased expansion will be in Singapore. The Vagabond Art Hotel is slated to open December this year while three others while The Blakes House and The Murray Hotel will open by 2015 in Singapore.

Owned and operated by one of Singapore's 50 richest (he's the 46th on the list) Satinder Garcha, the boutique properties will offer old-world hospitality. The personally-funded company will also open the Garcha Hotel in Santiago, Chile by 2016 and has spent a total of US $ 250 million on the capital expenditure on all the hotels.

In India, Garcha plans to invest approximately US $ 100 million for a 200 key boutique hotel. "India is on the horizon for us. We are looking at a few deals here. Our first property will be in either Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai and we expect to spend $100 million to acquire, build and run it," Garcha told ET.
