Former SpiceJet CEO, CCO join hands to invest in budget hotel aggregator

Sanjay Agarwal, the former CEO and Kaneswaran Avili the former chief commercial officer with SpiceJet are now investing in Zen Rooms, a budget hotel with operations in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and India.

MUMBAI: Sanjay Aggarwal, the former CEO and Kaneswaran Avili the former chief commercial officer with SpiceJet are now investing in Zen Rooms, a budget hotel aggregator with operations in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and India.

Aggarwal left SpiceJet in July 2010. Avili quit in April this year.

Zen Rooms is set to launch in five countries with about 4,000 rooms. "Zen Rooms has raised undisclosed amount of investment from top investors and mentors such as Avili and Aggarwal and an unnamed senior executive from AirBnb. At present, Zen rooms is also advanced talks to raise funds from Singapore based investors," a joint statement from Aggarwal and Avili read.

Zen Rooms is founded by Vinay Gupta, Kiren Tanna & Madhur Yadav. While Gupta is the founder chairman and board member of via.com and tripfactory.com, Tanna worked as CEO of Rocket Internet for Asia Pacific and Yadav is a former head of digital marketing for Facebook across Asia Pacific," the statement added.
