Cygnett Hotels and Resorts Pvt Limited is betting big on NE India planning to come up with hotels

GUWAHATI: Cygnett Hotels and Resorts Pvt Limited is betting big on Northeast India. The group has planned to come with hotels in several locations in the eight states of Northeast India.

Already the group has set up a hotel in Guwahati. In Guwahati Cygnett tied up with local outfit, Repose Foods Ltd.

Group president and chief executive officer, Vikram Malhotra who was in Guwahati on Wednesday told ET, "We have plan to come up with at least eight hotels by the end of this year. These hotels will be both in budget and high end segment."

Cygnett is planning to set up hotels in Gangtok in Sikkim, Imphal in Manipur, Agartala in Tripura besides hotels in Bongaigaon in Assam and Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh.

He added, "An investors from Imphal has approached and very soon we will finalize the arrangements. Northeast India is emerging as a big market for the hotel industry with very good demand."

Cygnett is setting up hotels in Lucknow and exploring possibilities in Goa. "We are keen to have another hotel in Kolkata. Already we have one hotel Kolkata. We will set up hotels in Nepal, Bangladesh and Dubai."
