Carlson to open luxury & mid-segment hotels

JAIPUR: The $36-billion Carlson Hotels Worldwide (Asia Pacific) is planning to expand its footprint in India and will focus on luxury and mid-segment brands.

The international hospitality chain is looking at rolling out all the six brands in its bouquet: Regent, Radisson, Country Inn and Suites, Park Plaza, Park Inn and TGI Friday.

The group aims to become the largest international hotel chain in the country by the end of next year, pipping Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

As part of its expansion plan, the group is will launch its first 300-room luxury hotel Regent Hotels and Resorts in the NCR by 2010 at an estimated investment of Rs 400 crore.

Besides, the hospitality major, which operates 34 hotels, will launch seven more Country Inn and Suites hotels, including three in the NCR.
