Bengal Salarpuria to invest Rs 150 cr in food park

KOLKATA: Bengal Salarpuria Eden Infrastructure Development Company, a joint venture between WBIDC and Salarpuria Group, would invest Rs 150 crore in a mega food park project at Amtala in West Bengal.

Laying the foundation stone here on Wednesday, state Industry Minister and WBIDC Chairman Nirupam Sen said that the food park would create employment for more than 1,000 persons and help the local farmers in getting remunerative prices.

He said that West Bengal was at the third position in the country in terms of investments in the food processing sector.

Chairman of the joint venture, Rakesh Salarpuria, said that food park would provide backward and forward linkages for a sustainable supply chain.

The park would come up on 125 acres of land, out of 85 acres would be dedicated to food processing.

The park would have rain water harvesting system, truck terminal, warehousing facilities and sewerage treatment plant.
