Aman Resort plans to set up 7-star hotel in Orissa

International luxury hotel chain Aman Resort has evinced interest to set up a seven-star resort in Orissa.

BHUBANESWAR: International luxury hotel chain Aman Resort has evinced interest to set up a seven-star resort in Orissa.

"The Chairman of the Singapore-based group, Adrian Zecha, accompanied by leading architect Karan, today met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and proposed to set up a resort in a place close to Puri and Konark," Tourism Minister Debi Prasad Mishra said.

The team visited three locations like Khelar near Pipili, Sarada near Nimapada and Beruhan near Konark for the purpose. It is planning to set up a seven-star category facility with an aim to meet requirements of high spending tourists mainly from foreign countries.

"They are yet to decide on the location for the proposed resort," Mishra told PTI, adding that the state government would provide all assistance to the company for setting up the resort.

Official sources said that Aman Resort asked for 48 acres of land for its project in rural surrounding which was assured by the state government.

While assuring the group to provide land within three months, the state government had asked the group to complete its project by October 2010.
