Mumbai: India has emerged as one of Airbnb's fastest-growing markets, with nights booked on the platform rising 50% and first-time bookers increasing more than 60% in the December quarter from a year earlier, according to the company's shareholder letter and India earnings statement.

The number of bookings from India have gone up expeditiously, outpacing several other expansion markets, the vacation rental booking company said. Brazil and Japan also reported strong performance.

"We're seeing strong momentum in India," said Amanpreet Singh Bajaj, Airbnb's country head for India and Southeast Asia. "Looking ahead to 2026, we will continue building on this momentum by bringing the benefits of our platform to deliver meaningful value for hosts and guests across India."

Across Asia Pacific, 'Nights and Seats Booked' rose in the mid-teens. India was a key driver of regional outbound growth.

Airbnb on Thursday reported fourth-quarter revenue of $2.8 billion globally, up 12% from a year earlier. Gross booking value (GBV) rose 16% to $20.4 billion, while Nights and Seats Booked increased 10% to 121.9 million.

"In Q4, we delivered our strongest GBV growth in more than two years, alongside acceleration in nights and revenue," said cofounder and chief executive Brian Chesky.

For the full year 2025, revenue rose 10% to $12.2 billion. GBV increased 12% to $91.3 billion and Nights and Seats Booked rose 8% to 533 million.

The company said expansion markets were growing faster than its core geographies. "Origin nights booked in our expansion markets grew at roughly twice the rate of our core markets," the shareholder letter said.

Airbnb said it expects revenue growth in 2026 to "accelerate to at least low double digits", with continued focus on high-growth markets such as India.
