Accor taps Marriott’s Ranju Alex as CEO for South Asia operations

Accor has appointed Ranju Alex as its new CEO for South Asia, overseeing operations in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Alex, formerly Regional Vice President at Marriott International, brings over three decades of experience to the role.

Hospitality chain Accor has appointed Ranju Alex as its CEO for South Asia, the company announced on Wednesday. Alex will oversee operations in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Alex joins Accor after serving as regional Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, where she managed over 170 hotels across the region. She began her career with The Oberoi Group in 1993 and has held several leadership roles at Marriott over a career spanning three decades.

Accor currently operates more than 70 hotels in South Asia, with over 30 properties in the pipeline.

Earlier this year, Accor and InterGlobe announced plans to create a joint venture consolidating all their businesses into a single entity, pending regulatory approvals.

Gaurav Bhushan, chairman of the proposed Accor-InterGlobe JV, said Alex brings “a wealth of rich experience, skills and relationships into the business” and expressed confidence in building the “foremost” hospitality platform in the region under her leadership.

“I am delighted to join an organisation with the most comprehensive and exciting portfolio of brands in the region. It will be an honor to lead the Group’s vision in this region, and I eagerly look forward to this exciting role,” said Alex.
