Yash Birla to set up Birla Global School in Lavasa
Diversified Yash Birla Group has inked an MoU with Lavasa Corporation to set up a school - Birla Global School at Lavasa city.
Lavasa, near Pune, is free India's first planned hill city being developed by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) across 25,000-acres of land and the school will be located in the second town at Mugaon.
"This collaboration with Yash Birla group will further help in the development of Lavasa as a centre of excellence in education and research. The partnership is based on the common interest to bring world-class education to India," Lavasa's President, Rajgopal Nogja, said in a statement here.
The school will be a residential one with various international departments and international boards. It is scheduled to commence in 2012-13.
"The tie-up will help impart quality education to hundreds of children from different continents. It will start in academic year 2012-13," the Yash Birla Group Chairman, Yash Birla, said.
Lavasa is in the process of setting up a world-class university on the lines of the Boston-Massachusetts model. It has also partnered with the United States Space Research Centre (USSRC) for a 50-acre NASA-theme park which introduces visitors to the latest in space technology.
