VTU announces honorary D.Sc degrees to three educationists

Bengaluru: Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, will confer honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc) degrees on three educationists and technocrats at its 26th Annual Convocation.

Governor and VTU Chancellor Thaawarchand Gehlot approved the recommendations following which the University announced the recognition.

The three recipients are Prof T G Sitharam, former chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE); Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy, Chancellor of CMR University and president of CMR Jnanadhara Trust; and Dr M P Shyam, president of Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST), which governs RV Educational Institutions in Bengaluru.


The recommendations were made by an Expert Scrutiny Committee and approved by Gehlot following correspondence between the university administration and the Governor’s office.

The honorary degrees will be formally conferred at the upcoming convocation at VTU’s Jnana Sangama campus in Belagavi.

The conferment recognises the recipients’ contributions to technical education and related fields, according to the university’s recommendation, according to a notification from the Lok Bhavan.
