University of Manchester to conduct a meetings in Delhi & Mumbai this month
The university will conduct meet to strengthen education, research and business ties between the universities in India.
Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, president and vice-chancellor of the university, will hold talks with representatives of government, higher education and businesses such as the Indian Council of Medical Research, Reliance Industries and the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, and meet some of the university’s Indian alumni at an open event in Delhi.
Scientists from the university work with leading businesses such as Tata Steel, BP and General Motors, and Professor Rothwell’s visit is designed to strengthen these ties and explore new opportunities.
She said: “India is a very important country for the UK to work and strengthen relationships with, and this is especially true for Manchester with our global outlook and historic links with the country.”
Kevin McCole of the UK India Business Council said: "Professor Dame Nancy's visit is important as it illustrates the scope for collaboration between UK Institutions and India, particularly Indian corporates."
