University crisis likely to be over soon
State government has invited teachers and authorities of Nagaland University to resolve the month-long crisis.
The agitating post-graduate students of the central university, the only of its kind in the state, have threatened to resort to violence if authorities and teachers fail to end the impasse, which has lead to cancellation of classes for almost a month.
The Post Graduate Students Union (PGSU), whose indefinite picketing entered the fourth day today, demanded immediate resumption of classes.
Vice-Chancellor K Kannan has written to the PGSU assuring it that academic activities in all three campuses would be resumed by September 30.
The teachers went on an indefinite cease-work after authorities suspended eight members of the teachers' association last month following their agitation in support of a charter of demands, including recall of the vice-chancellor.
