UK's Cardiff University to collaborate with varsities in India

NEW DELHI: Cardiff Metropolitan University of the UK will join hands with universities and institutes here to offer 'Art and Design' courses at undergraduate level and an opportunity to complete a part of their programme at its campus abroad.

The university signed an agreement here today with Qualifications and Assessment International (QAI) to develop the programme which it will offer to students.

"There is a massive recognition to have such a programme across the globe and we are committed to contribute to the development of the next generation of graduates in our growing creative arts industry in India," CMU Vice-Chancellor Tony Chapman told PTI.

The university, he said, does the product designing for over 90 per cent of the SMEs, which varies from designing a bottle to pins, to hospital bed, cards and cigars.

"We are working on placement for students with companies who are already in contact with us," he said.

The CMU V-C, however, did not disclose the names of Indian universities and institutes they are tying up with as the process is being formalised.

QAI is an international awarding body that offers a range of academic and vocational qualifications and assessments for specific purposes including skill assessments for employability and English language.
