The Times Group launched its foray into the education sector, an initiative to skill and transform graduates into professionals.

MUMBAI: The Times Group on Thursday launched its foray into the education sector with TimesPro, an initiative to skill and transform graduates into professionals by offering specific courses across sectors.

Courses will aim to bridge the gap between industry requirements and skill sets of graduates looking to enter the banking and financial services industry, media, organised retail as well as hospitality and healthcare industries. As part of the initiative, the company has already set up seven state-of-the-art learning centres across the country at Mumbai, Noida, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar.

"The Times of India Group has innovation and excellence in its DNA. TimesPro through its unique and modern training programs will provide the industry with graduates having relevant professional skillsets. These programs will also make graduates more employable and job-ready,"Vineet Jain, managing director, Times Group said.

TimesPro will launch its flagship programme - the Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Management in June 2013. This programme will cater to the rise in demand for skilled graduates in the banking industry which is likely to see the entry of many more private banks in the next few years. According to a recently published employability survey by Assocham, only 10% of fresh graduates of Indian educational institutions are employable straight out of college.
