Three new medical colleges to be set up in MP
This is for first time after creation of MP, that med colleges have been opened at district headquarters other than RAJBHOGI cities (Bhopal, Gwalior Jabalpur, Indore).
Giving this information, an official release said here today that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone for the college at Ratlam on July 24, Shahdol on September 14 and Vidisha on September 22.
Each medical college will have 150 seats alongwith a 750-bed hospital attached to it.
This is for the first time after creation of Madhya Pradesh, that medical colleges have been opened at district headquarters other than RAJBHOGI cities (Bhopal, Gwalior Jabalpur and Indore).
Concerned collectors have reserved required land for the new medical colleges. Land measuring 30 acre has been earmarked at Ratlam, 30.77 hectare at Shahdol and 16.735 hectare at Vidisha, the release said.
Opposition Congress has criticised the opening of these medical colleges and said it was being done in view of the upcoming assembly elections.
"Why did the BJP government not do something about these medical colleges since December 2003," the leader of the opposition, Ajay Singh asked.
