That is the shift Times of India wants to enable with the AI Winter Camp for Students, a structured five-week programme designed for students in Classes 5 to 12.
The idea is simple: AI should not just be something students talk to. It should become a tool they learn to think, create and build with.
Five Weeks. Five Ways to Master AI.
The AI Winter Camp takes students on a step-by-step journey, moving from the fundamentals of AI to creating projects they can actually showcase.
Week 1: AI Foundations - From Answers to Understanding
The journey begins with learning how to ask better questions.
Students will learn the fundamentals of prompting and discover how AI can become a personalised learning companion. Using tools such as Claude and Gemini, they will explore ways to research topics, generate detailed reports and turn information into visual explanations.
They will also learn how to transform their study material into mind maps, flashcards and quizzes, making AI useful not just for finding answers, but for understanding and retaining information.
Week 2: AI Creative Studio - From Imagination to Creation
Once students understand how to work with AI, the next step is to create with it. During Days 3 and 4, they will move beyond text and experiment with visual, audio and video creation. Using platforms such as Canva and ChatGPT, students can turn ideas into comic books and visual concepts. They will explore video creation through Google Flow, experiment with voice generation using HeyGen and ElevenLabs, and even write and produce original songs with Suno. The objective is to show students that creativity and technology no longer have to exist in separate worlds.
Week 3: AI Innovation Lab- From Ideas to Working Products
What if a student has an idea for a website or an app but does not know how to code? The AI Innovation Lab introduces them to a new possibility: building without needing years of programming experience. Across Days 5 and 6, students will use tools such as Lovable and Replit AI to create websites, browser games and mobile applications. They will also explore how simple AI assistants can be built to perform everyday tasks automatically. Here, an idea does not have to remain an idea. Students get the opportunity to turn it into something they can actually use.
Week 4: AI Advantage- Building a Smarter Way to Learn
Creating things is only one part of working effectively with AI. Knowing how to organise information and communicate ideas matters just as much. In Week 4, students will build their own “Second Brain”, a central digital workspace in Notion where they can organise academic notes, ideas, resources and personal knowledge. They will also explore tools such as Gamma to make presentations more engaging and communicate their ideas more effectively.
The focus shifts from simply knowing more to working smarter with what they know.
Week 5: AI Showcase - Turning Learning Into a Portfolio
The final week brings the entire journey together. Across Days 9 and 10, students will take the projects, designs, audio tracks, apps and other creations they have developed throughout the AI Winter Camp and bring them together into a cohesive digital portfolio website. This becomes more than a final assignment. It is a tangible record of what they have learned something they can share with peers, mentors and others who want to see what they can create.
Not every student learns in the same way, which is why the AI Winter Camp offers different levels of participation. Every student receives access to the core five-week curriculum, session recordings, presentation decks and resource toolkits, including prompt libraries and practical cheat sheets. Students looking for a more engaging experience can opt for higher tiers that include live onboarding sessions, exclusive giveaways and expert-led career guidance.
By the end of the AI Winter Camp, the goal is not simply for students to know more about AI. It is for them to look at an idea and think: “I can build this.” Because the next generation will not just grow up using AI.
