Tech Mahindra to set up 5 engineering schools

To produce skilled manpower as per the needs of IT industry, Tech Mahindra plans to open 5 engineering schools.

CHANDIGARH: Tech Mahindra Ltd, part of $ 4.5 billion Mahindra Group, plans to open 5 engineering schools in different parts of the country with an aim of producing skilled manpower as per the needs of IT industry.

Besides it, the company further plans to set up an IT development centre in Jaipur at a land of 25 acres.

"We have plans to start 5 engineering schools aimed to develop capabilities among students according to the requirements of the growing IT industry in the country," Tech Mahindra Ltd, Vice Chairman and MD, Vineet Nayyar told reporters here on Friday.

The company plans to establish these schools in Chandigarh, Goa, Pune, Jaipur etc in a span of one or two years, he added.

There is a definite need to develop such kind of human resources in the country, who could play a vital role in the growth of the IT sector, he informed.

On the proposed IT centre to be set up at an investment of Rs 100 crore in Chandigarh, Nayyar said that the company was still awaiting the notification of SEZ where it proposed to set up its own centre.

The company has proposed to set up IT development centre at an area of 15 acres of land in Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park.
