Tata group ties up with UK institute

To prepare a pool of internationally qualified chartered accountants, the Tata Group has tied up with the ICAEW to train students who are being recruited into the Tata GAT programme.

DELHI: To prepare a pool of internationally qualified chartered accountants, the Tata Group has tied up with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) to train students who are being recruited into the Tata Graduate Accounts Trainee (GAT) programme.

These students will join the 7 Tata Group companies. ICAEW is the first UK accountancy professional body to deliver its Associate Chartered Accountant(ACA) qualification in India. The programme commences from April this year.

Commenting on the development, Satish Pradhan, vice president, Group HR, Tata Sons, said, “This is one of the most prestigious programme globally and with companies listing overseas, we need to have professionals who are aware of international accounting standards.”

Students will be trained using the new ACA syllabus that will be launched in September 2007, which will be tailored to meet the needs of Tata Sons. ICAEW provides leadership and practical support to over 1,28,000 members in more than 140 countries.
