St. Stephens may implement SC, ST quota

St. Stephens College here is considering to earmark 20 per cent of its seats for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students in the coming academic session.

NEW DELHI: St. Stephens College here is considering to earmark 20 per cent of its seats for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students in the coming academic session.

The college may reserve 40 per cent of its seats for Christan students and the rest 40 per cent for the students of the general category.

"These reservation is under consideration. Nothing is finalised as of now," officiating principal of the college Reverend Valson Thampu said.

The move of the college assumes significance in view of the government's quota policy pending before the Supreme Court. The Delhi University has already announced that the admission for this year would be conducted as per the last year.
