SJMSM sees 44% rise in local salary offer

MUMBAI: Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJMSM), IIT Bombay, ended its placements with 53 students getting around three offers each. The average domestic salary went up by 44% and stood at Rs 13.96 lakh per annum.

While the highest domestic salary was Rs 21 lakh, the highest international salary went for $85,000. The lowest salary that was on offer stood at Rs 7.75 lakh per annum.

���I have been offered a position of assistant vice-president in credit risk. I had absolutely no idea of banking some years ago, but got interested once I invested some money that started paying off huge returns,��� says Janesh Mehta who has been offered the highest domestic salary. Mr Mehta has a prior work experience of two years as a software developer in Infosys.

A majority of the batch, 30% of them got profiles in the IT and ITeS sector. This was followed by profiles in finance and consulting to which 23% and 18% of the batch applied, respectively. Furthermore, around 40% of the batch had got pre-placement offers.

There were many first-time recruiters like ITC, Sun Microsystems, Barclays Bank, HSBC Cairn Energy and Feedback Ventures, among others.
