Seven states approach MUL for setting up driving institutes
Governments of Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal have asked Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) to set up driving institutes in their state.
During his visit to the city yesterday, Khattar said for promoting road safety and safe driving the company has taken up many initiatives. Maruti has introduced international drivers' training infrastructure and courses for the first time in the country.
MUL and Gujarat tribal development department on Tuesday inked a memorandum of understanding in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi at Dharikheda in neighbouring Narmada district to set up Gujarat Regional Automobile Training Institute on 21 acres of land at Waghodia in the district.
Maruti has been managing two Institutes of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Delhi in collaboration with the state transport department.
The company has set up 25 Maruti Driving Schools in 23 different locations across the country and 25 more such schools will be set up during this fiscal, he said.
As many as 53 per cent of trainees in these schools are women, he said.
