NEW DELHI: Schools in six assembly constituencies in Chennai would receive enhanced assistance for establishing language laboratories, thanks to the efforts taken by Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu.
At the request of Chennai Corporation Commissioner, Baalu has sanctioned an additional assistance of Rs 54.75 lakh from his MPLAD funds for 32 schools in Triplicane, Thyagaraya Nagar, Mylapore, Saidapet, Alandur and Tambaram, falling under his South Chennai Lok Sabha constituency.
With this release, a total of Rs 294.75 lakhs has been sanctioned for the purpose.
Baalu said that establishing language laboratories in schools would go a long way in imparting requisite proficiency training for the students and brighten their career prospects in the software industry.
