Samir Barua becomes new IIMA director
Professor Samir Kumar Barua has been appointed as the new director of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIMA) this afternoon, official sources said here.
Professor Barua has assumed the charge of director after Dr Bakul stepped down on October 10 on completion of his five-year term.
Barua has been on the faculty of IIMA since 1980.
During the intervening period professor Jayant R Varma officiated as the director-in-charge of IIMA, sources added.
A faculty of production and quantitative methods, Barua is also a visiting facutly at academic institutions in the United States, Netherlands, Singapore and Cyprus.
Barua, 57, son-in-law of CPI strongman A B Bardhan, is also on the baord of several large organisations.
