Periwinkle, RAGC tie-up to train 300 underprivileged students

Students, who will have a minimum qualification of eighth grade, will be professionally trained over three months.

MUMBAI: Periwinkle Group on Tuesday said it has partnered with the Rustomjee Academy for Global Careers (RAGC) to train 300 underprivileged students and absorb them in a span of two years across its various retail formats.

"We hope to reach out to the students across the country and give them an equal opportunity to accomplish their dreams," Planet Retail COO Vikas Purohit said in a statement.

Periwinkle Group includes brands such as Planet Retail, Bagzone, Samsonite and American Tourister. The course begins from February 15, at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Mumbai.

Students, who will have a minimum qualification of eighth grade, will be professionally trained over three months. They would receive a stipend of Rs 3,000 per month during the internship. On completion, the students will be offered jobs as fashion consultants or sales executives within the group.

"It is a unique initiative to create skilled manpower for emerging sectors and provide them with employment opportunities," said RAGC Vice-President Kavi Luthra.
