PCMC to upgrade all its schools on PPP basis

MUMBAI: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the science and technology park, Pune, and IL&FS education and technology services limited (IETS) to upgrade all 156 municipal schools.

This would be done on a public-private-partnership (PPP) basis, a release said here on Friday.

PCMC is the first corporation in the country to focus on improving educational infrastructure in schools through the PPP mode, the release said.

In partnership with IETS, the PCMC and science and technology park have developed a comprehensive programme of interventions which are proposed to be implemented through PPP mode.

The programme, PCMC rapid advancement of quality applications for sustained holistic education (PRAQASHE) includes improvement of infrastructure, upgradation of information technology, enhancement in quality of education and capacity-building of teachers.
