Orissa university set to launch masters course in Sanskrit
Initially, the university would begin with two year MA programme. But it may also start research programmes in the ancient language.
The decision was taken in the meeting of the executive council of the University held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor professor Mohammad Miyan, a university release said on Monday.
Even when other languages were taking shape, Sanskrit continued to be the vehicle of creative and all other scholarly work, it said.
"Sanskrit, which is a part of our cultural heritage, needs to be given importance in any educational institution. So the university is launching the programme from the next academic session," the release said.
Initially the university would begin with two year MA programme and later it would start research programmes in Sanskrit, it said.
