NTPC enters into MoU with IIM-A for Business School

According to Sunil Kumar Maheshwari, HRM Area chair at IIM-A this is the first such partnership with academic institution for degree and specialised courses.

India's leading energy Maharatna, NTPC has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) for NTPC School of Business (NSB). The two have partnered for five year period wherein IIM-A would design and even conduct courses (initially), hold joint research with NSB and promote consultancy.

According to Sunil Kumar Maheshwari, HRM Area chair at IIM-A this is the first such partnership with academic institution for degree and specialised courses. "IIM-A in its initial years had taken help of Harvard Business School while starting out. This time it is an opportunity for IIM-A to play the role of mentor for NSB," said Maheshwari. He emphazised that most of the teaching at NSB would be based on case studies.

"This agreement would hold for five years starting 2018-19 academic year wherein IIM-A would help us roll out programmes in focused manner. It would also design, conduct courses and train faculty, helping us create a world class institute," said Saptarshi Roy, HR director of NTPC.


Two batches have already passed out of the institute so far. IIM-A will handhold the institutes to replicate its management degree courses beginning this year with special focus on energy sector.
