NIFT 2013 admissions in various courses up 28% to 3,187
NIFT was granted statutory status in 2006. It offers 4-year UG programmes and 2-year master programme in the areas of design management and technology.
"In 2013 (till now), The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) admitted 3,187 students to UG/PG Courses..," said an official statement.
"The response of students for admission in NIFT has been overwhelming in view of the fact that leading National/ International companies have been participating in the campus placement to recruit NIFT professionals," it added.
The counselling process allowed applicants to visit any of the NIFT campuses to secure admission, reducing their travel time and cost, it said, adding that they were given multiple opportunities to join the preferred course in a campus of their choice.
NIFT, which was set up by the Ministry of Textiles in 1986, was granted statutory status under the Act of Parliament in 2006, empowering the institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions.
It offers 4-year UG programmes and 2-year master programme in the areas of design management and technology.
