MUMBAI: Close to 2.18 lakh aspirants vying for a shot at the country’s IIMs and other leading B-schools sat for the CAT 2015, which was held over two slots in the same day.

More students across different backgrounds sat for the exam this year. The pattern of the exam was also changed to provide an even playing field to diverse candidates.

There were three sections this year - Quantitative Aptitude (QA), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC) – compared to two last year. An on-screen calculator was provided and not all questions were multiple choice; some were written answers.

The non-multiple choice questions did not attract any negative marking and were spread out across all three sections.

In terms of today's Slot 1 exam, the VARC section was along the lines of the CAT demo test. The DILR section was slightly more difficult than the other two sections, felt candidates.
