Mumbai student bags Rs 2-crore Cornell University scholarship

MUMBAI: Bhavi Jagatia (17) is the only student from Mumbai to bag the Cornell University scholarship of Rs 2 crore this year.

The last time a student from Mumbai bagged the scholarship was three years ago.

Jagatia has secured admission in the aerospace engineering programme in the Ivy League University to pursue her dream of becoming an astronaut.

The scholarship will cover all expenses including education, living, food, medical and travel. They will also sponsor one trip to India per year. The other two to have got the scholarship—both boys—are from Delhi.

She was handed over the scholarship letter by the university at a ceremony last month. The scholarship was instituted by the Tata Group for undergraduate studies in Cornell.
