Minority colleges can now hold CET

In a significant development, a SC Bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and A Kabir on Monday permitted six unaided minority colleges to hold their own CET and fill management quota seats.

PUNE: In a significant development, a Supreme Court Bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and A Kabir on Monday permitted six unaided minority colleges to hold their own common entrance test (CET) and fill management quota seats.

The interim order was given in respect of six special leave petitions filed by Pune’s P A Inamdar against the Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS) of the Maharashtra government.

A statement issued here by Inamdar’s Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society (MCES) said Supreme Court’s interim order has allowed CET for MCES’ M A Rangoonwala College of Dental Science and Research Centre, M A Rangoonwala College of Physiotherapy, Allana College of Pharmacy, Allana Institute of Management Sciences, the Association of Muslim Minority Technical Educational Institutions of Maharashtra (for MBA course) and the Association of Muslim Minority Technical Educational Institutions of Maharashtra (for B.Ed).
