Microsoft offers PhD fellowships

Microsoft Research, India, has granted its PhD fellowships to five students for ’06.

BANGALORE: Microsoft Research, India, has granted its PhD fellowships to five students for ’06. Three of them are from IITs, and of the remaining two, one is from IISc, Bangalore, and the other from IIIT, Hyderabad. Instituted by Microsoft Research’s External Research & Programmes Group, the PhD Fellowships are aimed at encouraging students to take up research as a career, according to a release.

Each awardee will receive approximately $5,000 (Rs 2.25 lakh) per year over four years, and also $5,000 for attending seminars and conferences during the term of the fellowship.
