Michigan, Sonipat law students in virtual class
The class was conducted via video conference to students in India and America by Michigan Law Professor Vikramaditya Khanna, who is the JGLS visiting professor for the present academic term.
Law students on the two continents began studying in one virtual classroom, linked together with state-of-the-art telecommunication and videoconferencing gadgets, thanks to an initiative launched by Sonipat-based Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) of OP Jindal Global University ( JGU) and the University of Michigan Law School (UMLS), a JGLS release said today.
The class was conducted via video conference to students in India and America by Michigan Law Professor Vikramaditya Khanna, who is the JGLS visiting professor for the present academic term.
The virtual classroom is born out of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed last year between Michigan Law and JGLS to establish a joint centre for global Corporate and Financial Law & Policy.
Prof Khanna lectured students about 'Law and Economic Development in India', the release said, adding, during the course term, the first batch of the virtual classroom would be taught how the law is relevant to economic development and how the two fields influence each other.
Other topics that the course would cover include the importance of property protection and constitutional guarantee to economic development, besides how the laws regulate capital markets are critical for development of global economy.
Besides attending lectures, students on both the sides engage in joint research and interactions, preparing for classroom discussions, the release said.
