Nitin Singh, country speaker, Merck India said that access to education is a priority intervention area for the company in India. “This program has had almost no drop outs over the years,” she said. “I believe that talented students should get the opportunity to pursue their dreams irrespective of the financial capabilities of their family.”
The MICT Scholarship provides annual financial assistance on actual educational expenses to selected students, from Class 11 to graduation. In 2018, the company is giving away 360 scholarships in India.
Under its School Support Program, the company has renovated the school building, built sanitary facilities, installed a library and water purifier, at a government school in Gumlapura, Kolar. Earlier, under the same program, the Government School Hennagara, Jigani, received 10 computers, a library and sanitary facilities.
